The phrase of energy follows thought is super helpful to us all and especially as we cope with and move through this tough time of the pandemic.

So many people have found themselves dealing with circumstances that they could never have expected and all of us have had to make such huge adjustments.

So how does energy follows thought help in tough times?

I believe we all can get help and support from this lovely phrase and I say that as someone who has been in dire circumstances in the past.  I’m always happy to share how I got myself out of such distressing emotional times where I honestly could not cope and needed professional help.

If I had known then about the power and the support that this keyphrase would give me, I think that I would have coped much better and come through it faster.

Things are meant to be and yet we can always take part in our own life rather than just be a victim of it.

‘Energy follows thought’ gives us a step-by-step ladder towards more positive thinking and helps us to change the energy and the results of our mental focus.

When we really recognise and accept that we can change things then miraculous things do change.

I love that phrase of “whether you believe you can or whether you believe you can’t; you are right!”

In my book Three Steps to Enjoying Life about life and our life journey towards happiness and what to do; I included the gorgeous piece which says it all in my view:

A native American boy is talking with his Grandfather:

Boy: What do you think about the world’s situation?

Grandfather: I feel like two wolves are fighting in my heart. One is full of anger and hatred. The other is full of love, forgiveness and peace.

So, “energy follows thought” maybe such a simple answer.

I suggest simply notice what we are thinking about and know that what we are thinking about is what we are feeding.

Maybe question yourself “what have I just been thinking about?”

Is that ok?

Is it ok to feed what that thought was about?  or do I need to refocus on something else?

Some top tips for using our thought energy in a positive way to help ourselves:

  1. Notice what you are thinking. Become thought aware. So many thoughts are generated and fill our heads and yet we often have no idea what those thoughts are.
  2. Stop, listen and feel what are you actually thinking right now
  3. What do you reckon that you have been thinking about in the last 10 minutes or since you got up? What have been your main thoughts in the day so far? Make a mental list of things that you can think about that lift your energy. Once you ate feeling better, you can tackle things that need addressing.
  4. Notice and acknowledge what is right rather than what’s wrong.
  5. Thank your brain for alerting you to everything that it points out to you that is or could hp wrong. Thank it for trying to protect you.
  6. Give yourself to problem solve tomorrow and enjoy today! Things often change overnight, and you may get a different perspective then.
  7. Look for the hidden blessings in tough stuff and remember to be grateful when or if you can.
